2. Information we collect

Most of the app — browsing and reading educational PDFs — can be used without providing any personal details. Some optional features (Quiz & Coins, Profile, and Chat with Admin) collect additional information as described below.

2.1 Information collected automatically

• Device information: Mobile device model, operating system version, language, and advertising/device identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID).
• Device identifier for the coin wallet: To keep your coins, streak, and badges tied to your device without requiring a login, we use a per-device identifier (Android ID). No name, phone, or email is required for this.
• Log & network data (online use): When you access online content or use the Chat/Quiz features, our servers record standard technical logs such as IP address, access time, requested files, app version, and error diagnostics.
• Approximate location (from IP): For safety, abuse prevention, and support in the Chat feature, we may derive an approximate location (such as city, region, country, and internet provider) from your IP address. This is not precise GPS location.
• Crash reports: Anonymized crash and performance data to improve stability.

2.2 Information you choose to provide

• Quiz profile (optional): A display name, and optionally a profile photo, phone number, date of birth, and address (Division / District / Upazila). You can use the quizzes and coins without filling these in.
• Chat with Admin (optional): A username and a PIN you choose to start a chat, and the content you send — text messages, images, files, and voice messages.

Offline use: When viewing downloaded PDFs offline, no information is transmitted to our servers.

2.3 Information shown publicly

If you set a display name and play quizzes, the app shows a public leaderboard. Other users may see your display name, profile photo (if set), coin total, earned badge/title, and the approximate location text you chose to add to your profile. Do not add information to your public profile that you don’t want others to see.

3. PDF content and external links

• No reading tracking: We do not track your reading habits, annotations, or page-by-page activity within PDFs.
• External links: Some PDFs may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content.

3.1 Offline caching

Educational PDFs may be stored locally on your device for offline use. These files remain private to your device and are not shared with us.

4. Advertising and third-party services (Google AdMob)

To keep the app free, we use Google AdMob to display advertisements, including rewarded ads that grant in-app coins. AdMob and its partners may use cookies, SDKs, and device identifiers to provide, measure, and personalize ads.

• Data AdMob may collect: Advertising IDs, IP address, coarse location (country/city), app usage events, and performance metrics.
• Ad personalization controls: Manage or disable via Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID / Opt out of Ads Personalization.
• Children’s ads: Where the app is used by children under 13, we request non-personalized, age-appropriate ads, subject to Google’s policies and your device settings.

5. Notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send optional notifications (e.g., new notes, result dates, study reminders). You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

6. Children’s privacy

Our app provides educational content suitable for students. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 beyond what is described here, and profile fields (photo, phone, date of birth, address) are optional. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information and you want it removed, contact us at support@academicschool.net and we will delete it promptly.

7. How we use information

• Provide the app’s features: Reading PDFs, quizzes, the coin/badge/leaderboard system, and chat support.
• Maintain the coin wallet: Track coins, daily streaks, and badges tied to your device.
• Support & safety: Operate the Chat feature, respond to reports, and prevent abuse (including using IP/approximate location for moderation).
• Improve performance and stability: Diagnose crashes and fix bugs.
• Display ads: Support free access through AdMob delivery and measurement.

8. How we share information

• Service providers: We share limited technical data with vendors such as Google AdMob, Google Firebase (messaging/analytics), and our hosting provider to operate the app.
• IP geolocation: IP addresses may be sent to a third-party IP-geolocation service to derive approximate location for the Chat feature.
• Other users: Public leaderboard/profile information (see §2.3) is visible to other users.
• Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
• No sale of personal data: We do not sell personal information.

9. Data retention

We keep technical logs and crash reports typically up to 12 months. Quiz profile data, coins, and chat messages are retained until you request deletion or your account/data is removed by an administrator. Cached PDFs remain on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app.

10. Your choices and controls

• Delete my data: From the app’s Profile screen you can send a data-deletion request. An administrator will review and, on approval, permanently delete your quiz profile, coins, and related data.
• Skip optional fields: Profile photo, phone, date of birth, and address are optional.
• Offline viewing: Read downloaded PDFs offline without sending data to our servers.
• Ad personalization: Manage or disable personalized ads in your device settings.
• Notifications: Turn off notifications in your device settings.
• Clear local data: Clear app cache/data or uninstall to remove locally stored files.

11. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect information from loss, theft, and unauthorized access. However, no electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Jurisdiction and governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Bangladesh. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangladesh.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated Effective date. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or on our website where appropriate.

• Reading is private: Browsing and reading PDFs (especially offline) needs no account and isn’t tracked page-by-page.
